Shea Homes Is First National Builder to Launch Application for iPhone and iPod Touch

Shea Homes releases a dedicated “App” for the iPhone/iPod Touch.

After success with Facebook, Twitter and blogs, and because they listen to their customers, Shea Homes continues to embrace technology and is the first national homebuilder to release a dedicated “App” for the iPhone. Compatible with iPhone as well as iPod Touch, the application is a free download from the iTunes AppStore www.itunes.com/apps/sheahomesSanDiego.

“More and more people are turning to their Smartphones for information, and we are pleased to announce an app that will make homebuying more consumer-friendly,” said Vanessa Linn, vice president of sales and marketing for the San Diego division of Shea Homes. “It is exciting to offer this service to our customers, and to provide them with another opportunity to link to the Shea community in San Diego. Consumers have many questions when it comes to buying a new home, and the Shea Homes App can provide them with answers quickly and easily.”

The Shea Homes San Diego iPhone App provides users with easy access to important community information. Some of the benefits and features of the Shea Homes’ App include:

  • Find detailed information about all of their communities.
  • Easily browse all of the plans available at each community and share them with friends
  • See pricing, square footages, exterior elevation images and floorplans
  • Instantly call, email or get driving directions (GPS enabled) to any of their communities (iPhone is required for phone calls).
  • Stay informed with frequent updates about communities, specials and limited time opportunities
  • Instant access to Shea Homes’ Facebook and Twitter pages

According to Gartner Research, “the iPhone OS had 8 percent of the Smartphone market in 2008” in spite of the fact that the iPhone 3G wasn’t released until July 2008. With the release of the recent upgraded model this past summer, Apple is expected to dominate this sector. The iPhone and iPod Touch combined hold the top spot for mobile browser market share at 30.5% from August to October of 2009. With over 50 million iPhone and iPod Touch customers and more than 100,000 applications available, Apple far exceeds any of their competitors. To date there have been more thn 2 billion AppStore downloads with availability in 81 countries. All this is amazing considering the iPhone has only been available since the summer of 2008.

“Shea Homes is very excited to be the first national homebuilder offering an iPhone Application, which acts as a robust digital and interactive green brochure. With the increased use of mobile technology and the popularity of Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch, this was a natural transition. As we move forward into the future, Shea Homes is dedicated to utilizing technology to provide easy and convenient ways to instantly share information any place, any time, and best of all, it’s free,” said Bert Selva President and CEO of Shea Homes. “We are also currently working on applications that would be available to other mobile device users and expect to have them available by years end.”

New Chula Vista Homes

Chula Vista located in San Diego county has come a long way in the last 10 years.  New Home master planned communities including: Eastlake, Otay Ranch, WindingWalk, San Miguel Ranch, Rolling Hills Ranch and more.  This massive population increase has created an entire city within the San Diego region which provides for more than 500,000 residents.  The new strips malls, and full mall (Otay Ranch Towne Center) as well as a massive recent upgrade to Plaza Bonita on the 805 has made Chula Vista a prime location to move.  The lower cost of homes compared to other regions in the city as well as the completion of the 125 toll road has created a great place to live and work.  We highly recommend checking out this region for yourself - Click Here for our current recommendation for New Homes in Chula Vista.

WindingWalk in Chula Vista

South Bay residents now have a new public park, part of the master-planned community of Windingwalk in Chula Vista.

The $5 million park, which opened Nov. 22, features basketball and tennis courts, a softball/soccer field and picnic areas.

A major attraction is the skate park, with 1,800 square feet of skating surface, developed by Brookfield Homes and Shea Homes, and operated by Chula Vista.

The grand plan for Windingwalk includes 2,300 residences, plus community facilities, retail, office space, and schools.

Meanwhile, GMAC Mortgage has opened a new branch office in Chula Vista on H Street to meet the increased demand for mortgage financing options in the fast growing community.

Lina Echeverria, associate district manager, will manage the office.

Construction of the 123,000-square-foot, 76-unit condo development for seniors is scheduled to begin next spring, with completion expected in 15 to 18 months.

The village, which will feature one- and two-bedroom and alcove floor plans, will offer dining, housekeeping and laundry services, fitness and social activities, and building and landscape maintenance, along with scheduled transportation.

The cost of the project hasn't been disclosed.
